Debbie Winkler
… I am Debbie Winkler (Director of Training, Dog Ears and Paws, Sykesville, Maryland, US) & I have been training animals and providing behavior modification for problem animals for 24 years. I work mostly with dogs, cats, birds, and small animals. Also, I work with sanctuaries, small zoos and some primate centers, providing enrichment programs. For 19 years I have been training assistance & therapy dogs for adults and children with special needs. Most recently, we are beginning a therapeutic riding program.
For 19-20 years, I have used bridge & target training, and Kayce Cover has taken the bridge and target I knew, light years from what it was. SATS has dramatically decreased the time required to train assistance and therapy dogs, saving our small non-profit organization time, money and effort-also decreasing the stress on the dogs as well Dog Ears and Paws Website

Dear Debbie,
You trained my dog Mac 10-15 years ago. My 21 year-old son just adopted a very hyper puppy. I am feeling sorry for the dog. She is not feeling safe, recognises no alpha, and gets yelled at a lot. I would really like to set him up for training his dog, so that her life can become a happy one. Please contact me. I hpoe there aren’t too many typos…still typing one handed since the stroke in 2004.

Debbie Winkler trained my super-hyper lab/boxer/great dane mix dog Mac many years ago, when my husband hought Mac was just plain crazy and wanted me to get rid of him. After working with Debbie, who trained me to work with mac, he became the wonderful, loving companion she knew he was all along. We were lucky to have Mac as a member of our family for 13 years. After Debbie helped us, my husband grew to love him as much as I did and he even insisted on bringing Mac with us on vacations.
